logo02As mentioned yesterday, the lovely people at lucy Activewear sent us some fabulous new workout clothes to test out! Read on for part deux of our review.  To read part one, click here!

Propel Run Tight
214240_fh09lcy001Here’s the thing, when I head out for a run I usually go the safe route and opt for clothing that is a little bit more slouchy (or flowy as Jen says) and doesn’t exactly show off my “assets.” But the Propel Run Tights changed my idea of what a running pant should be and after taking these pants for a spin, I’ve realized that though they might have a snug fit, they were surprisingly comfortable and flattering. I have to admit that at first I was a little nervous to wear the pants out, but when my roommate told me they were very “slimming” (a sure sign of a solid workout item) I was ready to show just about anyone. Not only are these pants visually attractive but the lucy tech™ fabric absorbs extra moisture or sweat and two panels on each leg add extra breathability. With the air getting crisper and darkness coming earlier, these pants are perfect for an evening run (equipped with reflectors on the backside of each pant leg) or an early morning walk. I love the added pink accents along the zippers and on the drawstring, but I must warn you there is a drawstring for a reason. While I was running, bopping away to my music, I barely noticed that I was showing a little more to my fellow park goers then they had bargained for. So be sure to tie that baby up tight before heading out. When tied up correctly, the pants wide waistband sits low and even has a little pocket so I can easily stow my house key. As with the other pants on the lucy website, these are true to size and while I was perfectly comfortable in the medium, a small would have been a better fit so stick to the size chart and you will be set.

RPM Tank
211529_fh09lcy818With so many workout tanks out there to choose from, finding the right one is always a challenge. What I liked most about the RPM Tank was its versatility. Made from lucy power™ fabric, this tank seemed to wick away sweat no matter what exercise I was doing running, Pilates, or spinning. This material is also super soft and fits to your body, making it extra flattering. What’s even more appealing about this top is the peek-a-boo detailing on the back and the V-neck cut, making this tank much more fashionable (not to mention the vibrant pink color) than your average workout top. I will say though, that if you are not interested in showing any tummy, you may want to opt for one of their longer tops, this one does have tendency to come up a bit when doing more high intensity exercises. That being said, this is the type of top you can buy guilt free because not only will it go with just about everything, it will also give you a fashionable boost and can be used for almost every workout.

logo02This week we were lucky enough have one of our favorite stores, lucy Activewear, send us some fabulous new workout clothes to test out! We are all about finding ways to make fitness as fashionable, fun, and pretty as possible and we love lucy for their fashion forward and innovative clothing designs.

They sent us four pieces to try out.
The Hatha Power Pant, Gazelle Seamless Half Zip, Propel Run Tight, and the RPM Tank. I took the Hatha Power Pant and Gazelle Seamless Half Zip for a spin and Jaclyn got her run on in the Propel Run Tight and the RPM Tank.

Read on for my review of the Hatha Power Pant and Gazelle Seamless Half Zip and check back tomorrow for jaclyn’s review of the Propel Run Tight and the RPM Tank.

Hatha Power Pant
214253_fh09lcy1199My old favorite yoga pants are sitting in my drawer crying because they have been replaced with the Hatha Power Pant. These pants are super comfy, adorable (love the pink piping), and well cut. They are made with lucy’s powermax™ fabric, which is a blend of nylon and lycra, so they do a great job of getting rid of moisture and sweat. Plus, the cut is incredibly flattering, so for anyone who is ever concerned about how their backsides look in lycra, fear not, these will do wonders for your rear. I have exercised in these pants twice. The first was in a yoga class and this is truly what these pants were made for, they move with you, wick away sweat and do not require any embarrassing adjustments. Honestly, one of the best pairs of yoga pants I have ever worn. The second was a chilly morning hike with my dog. They kept me warm without being bulky and did not fall down, ride up, or do anything else unsavory.  Unlike many workout/yoga pants, you do not need to order these a size larger and while we requested mediums since we are both 4/6’s (just to be safe, you never know curve hugging clothes), smalls would have probably been a better fit. Just make sure to follow the lucy size guide that the site provides to find the most comfortable fit for your style, especially if you plan to use them for more intense workouts, like running. Added bonus, from now through December, lucy will be donating a portion of all Hatha Power Pant™ sales to Off the Mat, Into the World®, an organization dedicated to conscious activism and service, very cool!

Gazelle Seamless Half Zip
211662_fh09lcy307Right off the bat I would like to say that if you are going to treat yourself to one new item for your workout wardrobe, get the Gazelle Seamless Half Zip. It looks amazing on and is incredibly well cut and designed. The day after seeing me in this, my mom went and bought her own. Seriously, I have never gotten so many compliments on a single piece of workout clothing and even the girl in line behind me at the grocery store wanted to know where it was from. It is awesome for running on chilly mornings or evenings and is super soft and comfortable. Even after a long and sweaty run, I was still comfortable and not overheated. Plus, the thumb loops are great to keep the sleeves in place and if it is super chilly and you need to zip it all the way up, they fashioned the zipper so that it is covered by a little piece of fabric, protecting your chin from any potential rubbing or scratching. I have nothing but love for this pull-over, it makes any workout ensemble look instantly pulled together and stylish. I wear it all the time (I even have it on right now!).

Thank you lucy for reminding us that workout clothes can be fashionable and functional! Check back tomorrow for jaclyn’s review of the Propel Run Tight and RPM Tank. Until then, visit http://www.lucy.com/ and check out their new cold weather gear!

We think a key component of getting in a good workout, is feeling good about yourself while you are doing it. And what better way to make yourself feel good, than by wearing a super cute, well fitting, flattering workout outfit. Plus, when you have a pretty new ensemble, it makes dragging yourself out of bed for Pilates class, just little bit easier. And really, running/biking/yoga is challenging enough as it is, the last thing you want to do is waste any of your precious energy adjusting your shirt or worrying if your pants are falling down or riding up. But, with so many materials, styles, cuts, and brands out there, it can be difficult to know what to buy and how it will actually function when you get it home. Well, we want to take the guesswork out shopping for sports bras, yoga pants, and everything in between, and save you from run ins with ill-fitting pants or (whoops!) bum baring shorts. We will be filling the fit·n·pretty wardrobe with reviews of some old favorites and many new fabulously fit·n·pretty finds. Fitness has never been so pretty!
